GRANADA: “The Moorish Jewel”
Welcome to my homeland!!
My city is located at the feet of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, between the Darro and Genil rivers. Granada is one of the most interesting and extraordinary cities in Spain.
The city includes impressive historical and cultural Arabic and Christian heritage, jewelled pieces of Renaissance architecture across the city, unique gastronomy, rich art, plus the city of flamenco in the cellars, and the snowy mountains.
The last city to be reconquered in 1492 by the Catholic faith keeps the glorious memories of the past untouched, in her Arabic castle and narrow streets filled with poetry, legends, music, the aromas of the kitchens and the perfumes of her people.
Fountains, hidden gardens, some of them considered as the most beautiful gardens in the World, the typical self-sustained houses surrounded by flowers and fruit trees,
make this city an unforgettable destination.
Surrounded by slow living towns all across the region, Granada is a place created in heaven. Because of her rich, fertile landscapes, you can cultivate any kind of vegetable or fruit tree. From olive trees, fruit trees of any kind to avocados and mangos in the semi tropical coast.
Recently declared the Most Beautiful City in Spain, with the quarter of Albaicin, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, this city, the city where I was born, will captivate you forever.
The Alhambra, the most visited monument in Spain, is the symbol of the city.
The visit to this unique Arabic Castle, the last to be reconquered, can take time because it is impossible to discover all the wonders hidden in his gardens, palaces and in his walls in a rush. The Alhambra is a place to be visited slowly, walking, wondering, contemplating every detail and letting yourself go in amazement and deep admiration.
Granada is the place to have a free tapa with every drink, the place where you are constantly gazing at the snow of the Sierra Nevada from every street, the place where flamenco is played and celebrated in cellars, the streets constantly full of life, the place to find very quiet and slow living villages and where you can sit by the Mediterranean shore and swim in her waters, or go to the Mountains and in half an hour be on the slopes of magical ski runs.
A city that has everything to offer to you…
Granada is music and poetry, monuments which are pure art, and ancient culture. This province reaches towards the skies from the craggy summits of the Sierra Nevada mountains; cities with breathtaking architecture which reside serenely in the Altiplano region; white villages scattered across hills and valleys which slope down to the cliffs and beaches of the Costa Tropical. The province of Granada, tourist destination par excellence, offers travellers the chance to ski in the Sierra Nevada mountains, discover hidden villages in the Alpujarra region, explore the last frontier of the Al-Andalus empire in eastern Granada or stay in caves and experience a troglodyte’s lifestyle.
A land of mild warm summers and winters which are ideal for snow sports.
